Photographs Lyrics by Chance McKinney
Chance McKinney Lyrics
I look at âem now and I canât help but laugh
All the memories scattered in those photographs
Grandma had âem up everywhere on every shelf
And every single one had a story to tell
If weâd ask her âwhoâs that?â
Sheâd dust off a frame
And take us on a walk down Memory Lane
Weâd be standinâ on the banks of Vietnam
In the Summer of â70 with my old man
Wavinâ to the camera... Fightinâ for Uncle Sam
Or holdinâ that barracuda on the boat
When Mom was just a kid off the California coast
She broke her pole, so she drug that fish in hand over hand In those photographs
We could spend a Saturday curled up on the floor
As Gramâd tell tales weâd never heard before
Sheâd make lemonade and then sheâd fill our glass
With lessons in life weâd never learn in class
It was better than any movie on tv
We would hang on every word as she painted the scenes
Weâd be standinâ on the field with the football team
Holdinâ up a trophy... livinâ the dream
It was the first state title this little town had ever seen (or has ever seen)
Or sittinâ on the top of the Hoover Dam
Bandanas on our heads, shovels in hand
You know my great grand daddy I look just like was a piece of that
In those photographs...
Solo
From the proms to parties, picnics nâ plays
All the backyard barbeques nâ basketball games
Every pic was a round-trip ticket into the past
I never realized when weâd stop for a pose
All it would mean to us all down the road
Or just how long those memories... were meant to last
The good, the bad, the best times... we ever had
In those photographs
